With the millions of New Year’s Goals you could have made for 2011, I am guessing that 80% (or more) of you have chosen some form of, “Get Fit” for at least one of those goals. I get it. I don’t blame you. In December, I finished my 2nd half marathon, so I have my own version of those “Get-Fit” goals for 2011!
Perhaps you are just beginning your “Get-Fit” Journey. Or maybe you are looking to improve upon the 2010 “Get-Fit” version of yourself. Whatever the case may be, having a 2011 goal which includes any version of “Get Fit” rocks! Why? Because you are making a commitment to your (lovely) self to care about you, your health, wellness and general well being. You are investing in you!
If you have not done so yet, take 10 minutes and write your “Get-Fit” goals out. Here are mine:
- Workout or move every single day. It is very important to me to always remember me, to schedule me in each and every day and to not let other things get in the way of the me of tiME. But here is what I’ve realized – when I move, when I am active and when I get all my energy out at the gym or in some other way, shape or form, I am a more motivated, happy and less-anxious person. I am more calm, productive and ready for new challenges. I will move each day between 30 minutes (on “off” days) to 2 hours (if I’m really feeling it)! And this will be “scheduled” in my planner, just as everything else is!
- Changing it up. No more day-in and day-out of the same workouts. I’m changing it up, and I am going to do so constantly. I’m going to keep this fresh and exciting, and I’m not going to allow myself to get bored. I’m planning on more balance – a lot of strength training to tone, intervals, biking, running, various cardio machines, circuits, yoga, core, hiking – and those are just the staples!
