Yosemite

Imagine: You receive an email from one of the nation’s best parks and they tell you:

“Congrats – we want you to come stay at our park for one week in the next 30 days. You will enjoy nothing but a stress free, relaxing vacation with your choice of a daily walk or run and an unlimited supply of The Laughing Cow Cheese during your stay for all your #SnackJoy enjoyment!”

You are excited just reading that, right? But where exactly is this place? Well you get to chose from one of the following best walking trails and parks in the nation:

  1. Yosemite National Park:  Yosemite National Park, found in the Sierra Nevada of California, covers nearly 1,200 square miles of mountainous terrain. The park offers everything from backpacking to biking and picnicking to rock climbing. The park offers a beautiful Wildflower Walk, and for those up to the challenge a Half Dome Day Hike.
  2. Muir Woods National Park: Muir Woods Park, located 11 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Northern California, is a perfect autumn park. The park is carpeted with leaves and twigs, and is truly nothing short of enchanting. The park offers the best walking trails for any activity level and amount of time desired to stay within the park. There are trails lasting from ½ hour to the most scenic view of 2 hours on the Ocean View Trail. You will come away from the park energized and refreshed!
  3. Olympic National Park: Olympic National Park is located west of the Seattle area on the Olympic Peninsula. There are countless ways to enjoy this park from a walk and day hike to camping or fishing. Olympic National Park offers great day hikes. They include hikes of various lengths and difficulty, so there is sure to be something for everyone. Here are many hikes and walking trails to choose from!
  4. Cuyahoga Valley National Park: Cuyahoga Valley National Park is 22 miles along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Not only is this park great for walking trails, but it is also a park that offers very family-friendly hikes and other activities (like their Junior Rancher Program) for kids.
  5. Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park is located along the rocky coast of “Downeast” Maine, which is approximately six hours north of Boston. Acadia offers a 1/3-mile loop trail (part of which is accessible) atop Cadillac Mountain. It also offers ranger-led walks and room to explore the park via bike or horse-drawn carriage tour.

There are literally thousands of amazing walking trails and parks in the nation. I chose just 5 to highlight today. I am curious to know where your favorite walking trail and/or park is in the nation. Better yet, which do you want to visit?

I think that the Appalachian Trail would be great to hike one day. I hear it goes for a long ways.
