With the beginning of 2012 upon us, it is the perfect opportunity to start a new routine, improve your health or save up for that trip you’ve wanted to go on! This is the ideal time for self-improvement and motivation. All resolutions are set with great intent but can be difficult to stay on track once work gets overwhelming or your family’s schedules become more demanding.
Here are a few of our tricks to achieving your New Year’s Resolutions.
- Bring a friend with you to the grocery store to aid in your healthy decision making.
- Write your resolution down, include an inspirational quote and read it each morning.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself or get discouraged. Just begin the next day with a fresh slate!
Our community leaders have also shared their tips to stay on track throughout the year:
- Patricia Bannan plans to get back into her yoga routine, so she is going to find a yoga teacher she really enjoys, set a calendar date for her yoga classes and bring a buddy with her to keep her on track.
- Roni Noone is going to brush her teeth, put on her pajamas and get ready for bed earlier (with her children) – hopefully curbing her late-night snacking habit as well.
- Sarah Kay Hoffman aims to have her healthiest year yet by maintaining a positive attitude and developing a balanced lifestyle with more play and less work, more family time and less stress.
- Sarah Dussault wants to eat less refined and artificial sugar. She plans on drinking more water, consuming less artificial sugar in the form of gum and other sugar-free sweet treats, and asking her boyfriend and parents to keep her accountable for her actions.
What is your New Year resolution and how do you plan to stick with it?
