Pairings and a Bowl of Soup

A cozy blanket, the warm fireplace,  cup of hot tea, comfort food – Have any of these things helped you settle in with winter yet?

We are almost a month into the season and rather than spending our time wishing for brighter, warmer days, why don’t  we embrace the now in the most positive way possible?

When I think of winter, I can’t help but think of a big bowl of chicken noodle soup (made with my homemade chicken broth of course) and the comfort foods that accompany it perfectly. Here are some of my favorite comfort-food pairings to serve with a bowl of soup!

  1. Grilled Cheese. You can’t deny it! Grilled Cheese pairs perfectly with a bowl of soup. I like to make mine with gluten-free bread and one The Laughing Cow Light French Onion Wedge. If I’m eating my meal post-workout, I’ll also place a few grilled turkey or chicken strips in the sandwich to give myself an extra boost of protein and calories!
  2. Side Salad. Just like a restaurant’s lunch menu, I love to have a “Bowl of soup and side salad.” The best part is you don’t need to complicate it. A salad can be made in less than 5 minutes. Try romaine lettuce,  spinach, chopped pear, slivered almonds, tossed in a little olive oil and topped with a Mini Babybel Cheddar. It’s just that easy!
  3. Crumble Crackers & Cheese. Put a new spin on your crackers ‘n cheese and pair edamame crackers with one Mini Babybel White Cheddar. You can also place a dollop of Greek yogurt on top, for extra flavor!
  4. Mac and Cheese. I make my Mac and Cheese gluten-free with3-5 The Laughing Cow Light Garlic and Herb Wedges. Click here for the full recipe!

I’m fairly certain that this winter is going to be mighty delicious! What do you pair with a bowl of soup?
