A Kid-Inspired Fun and Cheesy Valentine’s Day Snack Plate
Valentine’s Day is almost here! That means lots of chocolate! At least that’s what we see over and over again this time of year.
Ask my husband, I am NOT against chocolate. He sees me enjoying a dark chocolate square almost nightly, but there are other ways to celebrate this love-centric holiday.
I asked my 6 year old what he thought would be a good food item for this holiday. We pulled out a plate and started brainstorming some healthy Valentine’s Day snacks.
One of our favorites came out first – cheese and crackers with turkey pepperoni. I like the Mini Babybel Light, he always goes for The Laughing Cow Light Creamy Swiss, but we both love our cheese combined with whole wheat crackers and turkey pepperoni. For fun, we used toothpicks and made hearts in the cheese and pepperoni.
Next up: Fruit. He wanted to use strawberries and also grabbed some dried cherries. This is when I discovered how amazing cheese and dried cherries are together! WOW, have you tried it?
Finally: Nuts. We are a nut family. I try to keep a bunch, shelled and un-shelled, on hand. They go great with cheese and fruit and made an awesome addition to our Valentine’s Day Snack Plate.
Here’s what it looked liked when we were finished…
What would you add?
