White Cheddar & Orange-Fig Filo Triangles

These sweet and satisfying pastries will be the highlight of your next party. One tip – be sure to stock up on the napkins. These are sticky and flakey and oh so tasty.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Frozen Filo Dough (found In The Grocery Store Freezer)
  • ¼ cups Butter, Melted
  • 1 jar Orange-fig Spread (such As Dalmatia)
  • 6 pieces Mini Babybel® White Cheddar Cheeses, Shredded

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350º F. Open the package of filo dough and unroll it carefully (it’s very fragile). Keep the sheets covered with a piece of plastic wrap until ready for use. Place one sheet down on your work area and paint with melted butter using a pastry brush, taking care not to tear it too much. Place another sheet of filo right on top of the first. Using a pizza cutter or a large knife, cut the dough crosswise (the short way) in to 6 strips. At the base of each strip, place a 1/2 teaspoon dollop of fig spread and a pinch of shredded cheese. Then, fold the bottom corner of each edge up to meet the opposite side of the edge and continue, American flag style, until the strip is folded into a triangle. Place the six triangles on a cookie sheet. Continue until all filo dough has been used. Then, paint all the triangles with the remaining melted butter and bake until golden, about 10 minutes. Don’t worry if some of the filling leaks out, that’s fig caramel. Yum!
